The Twyford Spectrum urinal bowl can be challenging to maintain as, rather than a regular 38mm drain at the bottom of the bowl, it has a smaller 32mm drain at the rear which is particularly prone to blockages. The Aquafree Spectrum Urinal Maintenance Device is designed to fit snuggly into this drain hole, helping to prevent debris entering the waste pipes whilst dispensing the active ingredients to combat blockages and odours.

Pack Size:

Spectrum cartridges are available in the pack sizes of 1, 4, 12, 24 and 32 units. Please use the drop down at the bottom of this page to select the pack size required. Note that cartridges supplied have a shelf-life of approximately 15 months.

 Usage:

The Spectrum cartridge is simply inserted into the 32mm drain hole of the Twyford Spectrum urinal bowl.  The contents of the cartridge are designed to break down  urine and reduce the potential for odours and blockages. However, they are not able to break down hair and other debris likely to enter the waste pipes. So, it is essential to "dose" the urinal weekly -  a very simple task.  For each urinal, mix 100ml of Gentworks Bactericidal Cleaner with  900ml warm water from the washroom hot tap. Pour the resulting 1 litre of diluted solution over and around the head of the cartridge. There is no need to remove the cartridge before doing so.

 Cleaning:

Most urinal odour problems, waterless or not, result from poor cleaning practices.  The urinal should be cleaned regularly with Gentworks Bactericidal Cleaner (same dilution as for dosing), Gentworks Bio-Blue or another neutral cleaning product. Cleaning products containing acids, strong alkalis and bleaches must not be used as these will kill the active ingredients contained in the Aquafree Urinal Maintenance Device and may well lead to odours and blockages.

Aquafree/AquaShield Urinal Maintenance Devices are simply retrofitted into existing pipework. They combat smells and blockages whilst eliminating the need for water. The contents of the standard Waterless Start-up Kits enable urinals to operate with no flushing for a period of 3 months, after which new Aquafree cartridges will be required. Microbes dispensed by the cartridges break down the uric acid salts and other contents of urine, while regular use of Bactericidal Cleaner helps keep the pipework free from body fats, hair, and other debris.

AquaShield is an alternative to the Aquafree UMD. AquaShield offers the same fitment while featuring an elevated concentration of biological material in the cartridge top, rather than the stem.

The Arica is a stylish waterless urinal Ideal for busy commercial environments such as  offices, restaurants, hotels, clubs, schools, and sports stadiums. 
This urinal uses the popular Falcon Waterfree Technologies waterless cartridge, a system cleaners and facilities management companies may already be familiar with. 
Maintenance is straightforward using  spray on waterless urinal safe cleaners and a simple cartridge change every 3-4 months or 4000-7000 uses.
The urinal is manufactured by a leading ceramics company and carries a 10 year guarantee on the quality of the ceramic. 

How it works

Urine, which is 96% water, flows down the surface of the urinal and into the unique Falcon cartridge. The cartridge is filled with a special liquid called Allseal, which is not only perfumed, but prevents foul air from rising up from the drain and into the washroom. It does this by floating on the surface inside the cartridge and trapping any particles at the cartridge base. Note that the effectiveness of the Allseal sealant can be impaired by sluicing or by incompatible cleaning chemicals, if proper care is not take,  However, there are no mechanical components to go wrong. Regular cleaning consists of spraying on cleaner and wiping it off. Replacing cartridges, a simple job,  has to be carried out every three to four months under average use conditions, but can last from 2 to 12 months, dependent on usage.

This Urinal Division from Armitage Shanks is wall mounted and made from vitreous china. It is designed to be compatible with the Armitage Shanks urinal products but also look great with our Coronus urinals.
